Building a platform for growth...

When Hnry first launched back in April 2017, we did it in classic start-up style. We built an online platform with just enough functionality to get people signed up and using it. It wasn’t pretty, but it did the job. Our early customers were vital to helping us learn what they needed, and having a basic platform allowed us to move quickly and respond to their needs.

For Hnry, early last year was all about learning and shaping our platform, so that it could support all types of self-employed individuals - contractors, freelancers, tradies, private hire drivers.

The re-platforming…

Around November last year, we took the decision to entirely re-platform our customer portal. With our learnings of the previous months, we knew that it was the right time to ditch our ‘MVP’ and build something from scratch that could grow and scale alongside our varied customer base. The entire process felt as though we were being given the chance to draw together all our customers’ feedback, all of their needs, and create something that really delivered something valuable for them. We released the platform in January of this year, and instantly saw an increase in customer usage. A new, clean look and some more advanced features was just the sort of thing our customers had been waiting for.

The next step…

For us, this new web portal simply gave us a platform to build on - a strong foundation that got the basics right, and allowed us to push the boundaries of new functionality and features. This is exactly where we are today. It’s only been a couple of short months since our platform went live, and we’ll soon be releasing ‘Version 2’ of it. It’s the same core functionality, but it gets an improved User Experience, some nice layout and feature introductions, and it also sets us up for some amazing future functionality. Our developers have been hard at work putting this release together, and we can’t wait to show you the great improvements they’ve made.

Coming around the corner…

It doesn’t stop there either. Being a FinTech company means we’re never finished with our product. We’re now using the Continuous Delivery capabilities of our platform to release new features incredibly frequently - putting things into the hands of our customers regularly to test and measure their response to it. That means new features every fortnight, every week, every few days if we can.

Whilst we can’t put all of our future plans out into the public eye just yet, we’re really excited about the features we’re currently working on, as they are all things directly requested by our customers. We’ve also got some pretty exciting tricks up our sleeves that we’ll be releasing in the coming months - so watch this space!
